So, I am on to my next (fitness) venture it’s called, Dance fit aka fusion. My aerobic/dance fitness education is from Silver Sneakers BOOM Move and AFAA Fuze Craze dance courses, which helped to sharpen my choreography skills. Although I had been teaching a similar dance fitness class throughout the years, I am now turning a new page and focusing on combining more international moves into aerobic, dance based exercise. Dance fitness is one of the best ways to burn calories and can also be helpful to improve balance and coordination. Socially, it keeps us happy, positive and connected. Dance is therapeutic in ways that we also see in other forms of fitness, such as: Meditation, Running or Strength training. It helps to increase positive emotions, relieve stress and help us improve within our activities of daily living. Creatively ? It also allows us a unique sense of freedom and self-expression. When building my dance fusion class, I wanted to make “fun” a priority and the opportunity to socialize was also a major part of it.
In order to build anticipation, I've included different themes each month. I also wanted to allow for socialization, since we are living at a time of distancing, I find it all the more important to build unity amongst those attending my class. Building unity, also enforces a sense of community and is beneficial to our emotional well-being. Wellness is not solely physical fitness, it’s also about meeting the internal needs that can have long lasting benefits.
Last but not least, although the music and style may change, the goal of my classes will remain consistent. That is, to create a space that allows for freedom, exploration, fitness and a chance to build connections.
I hope you all enjoyed this post, feel free to reach out and remember to DANCE through life! *Cheers*
